
Mia Winther-Tamaki is an urbanist based in New York City, with experience in city planning, digital equity consulting, SaaS product management, and community engagement. Strong writer and researcher, with quantitative skills for urban analytics (Python, HTML/CSS, ArcGIS) and design skills for data visualization and user experience (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Figma). Master of Science in Urban Planning from Columbia University, with an emphasis on urban analytics and community economic development. BA in Environmental Studies from University of California, Santa Barbara.
Her past projects include research about transparent city data dashboards, blockchain applications for cities, and privacy considerations of data collected in public spaces. She has work experience at HR&A Advisors within their digital equity consulting practice (Broadband Equity Partnership), the NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) within the Neighborhood Strategies department, and at the Center of Spatial Research at Columbia University. She has conducted research for the NYC Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Public Space Unit, the Institute of Technology and Society (ITS) of Rio de Janeiro, and Brown and Willmann’s Environmental Consulting Group.
